The Panzerkampfwagen V “Panther” was undoubtedly one of the most famous tanks of the Second World War. It was developed as a direct response to the Soviet T-34 and KV-1 tanks, which outclassed the now outdated Panzer III and Panzer IV on the Eastern Front in terms of performance and firepower. Powered by a 700-horsepower Maybach V-12 engine, it was armed with the highly effective high-velocity 75 mm KwK 42 gun, particularly suited for anti-tank use. Thanks to a well-designed layout that optimized protection—through the adoption of sloped frontal armor—mobility, speed, and firepower, the Panther can be considered one of the best tanks of the Second World War.
