The ZiL-131 6×6 truck with 3,5t capacity has replaced in the Soviet Army ZiL-157 vehicle. Serial production of ZiL-131 began in 1966 in the Moscow Likhachov automobile factory. Those trucks were reliable and easy in service, had high cross-country capabilities. On the base of ZiL-131 it were developed some special vehicles, included command mobile posts, fuel bowsers, multiple launch rocket systems.
