Hasegawa 09122 1/48 Japanese J7W1 Shinden

The Kyushu J7W Shinden was a Japanese, single-engine, experimental, canard-type interceptor of metal construction from the final period of World War II. Although work on canard-type aircraft had been underway since 1942, the prototype's first flight did not take place until August 3, 1945. The last two test flights took place in the last days of the war, and the prototype only achieved a total of 45 minutes of flight. The power plant was a 2,030-horsepower Mitsubishi Ha-43-41 engine, moving a pusher propeller, which unfortunately caused too much vibration and made maneuvering difficult during test flights. As a result, the J7W2 Shinden-Kai version was developed, which was planned to be equipped with a turbojet engine. This version never went beyond the design stage. Technical data: length: 9.66m, wingspan: 11.11m, height: 3.92m, maximum speed: 750km/h, climb rate: 12.5m/s, maximum range: 850km, maximum ceiling 12000m, armament: fixed-4 Type 5 30mm cannons.
